Rexel UK encourages its employees to keep moving with new Health Initiative
Rexel UK employees are taking part in a global corporate wellness initiative to improve staff health, engagement and well-being.
From now until 1 September 107 teams comprising a total of 749 Rexel UK employees are taking part in the Global Corporate Challenge (GCC).
GCC participants are encouraged to make a leap into the unknown (in many cases) and take at least 10,000 steps every day, in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization. The Rexel teams are not far off the mark, having already collected in excess of 480 million steps between them.
They are also encouraged to take part in their teams competing against one another through a series of activities focusing on physical activity, eating habits and sleep quality.
To raise awareness of the challenge, Rexel held a healthy lunch at its Birmingham headquarters with a selection of fruit smoothies, skewers and nutritious snacks on offer. Employees were invited to take part in a range of healthy games such as ‘guess the calories’ and guess the ingredients in the ‘surprise smoothie’.
Amanda Speirs, Internal Communications Business Partner at Rexel UK said, “It’s fantastic to see so many of our employees participating in this year’s Global Corporate Challenge. Since we signed up to the scheme last year we’ve seen significant changes in workplace behaviour. Teamwork has improved because colleagues are exercising together and organising group events and individually they have become more motivated to push themselves harder.
“A survey taken at the end of last year’s challenge indicated that 64% of Rexel participants felt their involvement in the initiative had noticeably improved their energy levels. It’s great to see how participating in the GCC can make a big difference to employees wellbeing.”
